How to Do A Home Inspection

1) Why should I buy this instead of hiring a professional?
We are not telling you not to hire a professional home inspection. We are simply saying that this book can be used more than once. So, when you find a house that you like, you can use this book to inspect the house without spending $300 each time you are interested in a house.

2) Can I use this more than once?
Absolutely! This is your book to use on as many houses as you want until you find the right one. However, we do recommend buying an updated version if you’re in the habit of buying a new house every couple of years. Try using the inspector more than once for the same money.

3) Is this legal?
Although many states have licensing requirements for “professionals,” at this time we do not know of any states that don’t allow the buyer or seller to do it themselves.

4) What happens if I miss items?
Even the best made plans have flaws, there is always a possibility to miss a problem. This is an inspection of major components of a house. If you follow the instructions, fill out the report section by section, you will cut down the possibilities of problem items. Ask a “pro” the same question.

5) How hard is it to complete?
This book is designed to correspond with the report pages. Each section of the book follows each section of the report. We advise you to read the whole book and report before starting the inspection, then follow the instructions and fill in the blanks.

6) Can I use this book to become a professional home inspector?
What you do on your time is your business.

The Carpenter Placement Test

1) How big is the test?
The test consists of 12 sections (more to come). Each section has a minimum of 10 questions, some contain up to 30 questions.

2) Why do you recommend not to send the test home with a prospective employee?
Not only can the applicant go to the library and look up the information needed to pass the test, he can also give it to his friends to study and pass the test therefore falsifying the outcome and information you need to hire employees.

3) Is this on paper or a computer program?
At this time, the tests are printed on paper. Soon we will be offering floppy disk and cd-rom versions to download in your computer. At that time you will be able to rearrange, add, delete, and change the wording to fit your specific needs.

4) How many prospective employees can I use it on?
As many as you like. Once you buy the test, it is yours. Make copies for your office so you can retest over and over. However, you will want to check back for updated versions and more sections that we will add from time to time.

5) Are the answers to the test a separate cost?
No, all sections will come with an answer sheet.

6) Does the test come in multi languages?
Not at this time. We are working on offering this option in the near future.
